About Taking Lessons
I offer singing lessons for adults and teens, and kids ages 11 & up.
Lessons can be given in-person or online.
Lesson Fees
THREE OPTIONS
Single
$35
(for 25-minutes)
Because single lessons lack regularity, they are booked as I have time. Students who sign up for a semester get priority, followed by those who enroll in 6-week blocks, so I can’t guarantee I’ll have time for single lessons, but if I do I will be happy to work with you. I only offer 25-minute lessons unless you’ve worked with me before.
ADDITIONAL COSTS
CREDIT CARD FEES
While I am happy to accept payments by credit card, there is a 3.8% fee added to invoices to cover my processing fees. Thank you for understanding.
You may also pay by personal checks and cash.
Choose from in-person lessons and online lessons. Lessons are either 25-minutes or 45-minutes. 25-minutes are generally recommended for new students and beginners. In-person & online lessons are the same price, but online lessons do incur a credit-card processing fee.
6-Weeks
$180 for 6 Lessons
or two payments of $95
(for 25-minutes)
If you want to make good progress but your schedule doesn’t permit signing up for an entire semester (or you’re not sure you need that many lessons), my 6-week blocks will give you enough time to get good results—and decide if you’d like to study more regularly.
Note that if you make two payments, the second one is due at the start of the third lesson.
I also offer 45-minute lessons for more advanced students. They are $300 for 6-weeks or two payments of $160 each.
SONGBOOKS
All students are required to purchase assigned songbooks based on their goals and interests. New students can expect to purchase two books (plus a Christmas book if they wish). If your budget is tight, you can probably work with one book. The longer you study, the more books you will have collected so you won’t always be required to purchase something new each semester. However, most students choose to anyway since they like to expand their repertoire. Since photocopying violates copyright laws, I cannot provide copies of music—you must purchase your own.
All songbooks come with back-up accompaniment tracks.
Semester
$25 each
if paid for up-front; monthly installments available
(for 25-minutes)
14-weeks, or whatever remains in the current semester. This is my most economic option and perfect for the student who has the time and wants to really focus on improving. For most people, it takes 3 months of committed study to see a big improvement, and the semester option gives you that time.
If you pay up front, the total is $25 x however many weeks are left in my semester. You may also pay in monthly installments which adds about 5% to the total.
I also offer 45-minute lessons for more advanced students. They are $45 each x the number of weeks left in the semester, with monthly installments available.
RECITALS & EVENTS
Throughout the year, there may be opportunities to sing in studio recitals or participate in competitions. Recitals may have a fee associated with it, but it will be based on whether or not an accompanist is hired and how much they charge (divided between participants). I do not charge for my time for studio recitals. Most recitals cost somewhere between $15-$20 unless we use pre-recorded accompaniment, in which case there is no charge.
Competitions have their own fees and vary greatly. They are paid directly to the competition and not to me. If you have to hire an accompanist, that will be an additional cost.
Students are not required to sing in recitals or to participate in competitions.

Lessons are tailored according to individual needs. For some, this will mean an emphasis on performance, for others it’s about learning to breathe and further contribute to health and well-being. Still, others wish to gain more confidence, and some are just looking for a fun hobby.
I excel at discerning where you’re at and how to take you where you’d like to go.
Your first lesson is about assessment, introducing you to my approach, and clarifying your goals. From there, we work on vocal exercises designed to help you reach your goals and the songs you’ve chosen to study.
My approach can be described as “natural singing”—a technique I’ve developed over the past 20+ years that borrows from traditional classical singing, current vocal science, body mapping, and relaxation techniques like yoga, qi gong, and EFT (emotional freedom technique). My approach allows you to sing well—and sing anything.
The proof is in the pudding, as they say. I’m in my 40s and my voice is still fresh and vibrant, showing no wear because my technique is reliable and built for longevity.
While I’m a trained classical singer, I know my way around many genres and can help you sing anything you want to, including pop, jazz, broadway, country, bluegrass, and gospel.
